WHAT ARE COOKIES?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference. Those cookies are set by THG on our behalf and are called first-party cookies. We also use third-party cookies – which are cookies set by third-party organisations – for our advertising and marketing efforts.
Cookies do not contain confidential information such as your home address, telephone number or credit card details. We do not exchange cookies with any third-party websites or external data suppliers. If you do choose to disable cookies, you may find that certain sections of the Site do not work properly.
WHAT OTHER SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES DO WE USE?
Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track users of the Site. We may use other similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called "tracking pixels" or "clear gifs") to track users of the Site. These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has interacted with the Site, such as opening an e-mail that we have sent them. The use of web beacons (or similar technologies) allow us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users within the Site, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to the Site from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve our online services, and to measure the success of e-mail marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.
We and our service providers and third parties we collaborate with, including ad networks, may use cross-device/cross-context tracking. For example, you might use multiple browsers on a single device, or use various devices (such as desktops, smartphones, and tablets), which can result in your having multiple accounts or profiles across these various contexts and devices. Cross-device/cross-context technology may be used to connect these various accounts or profiles and the corresponding data from the different contexts and devices.
When you access the Site, we or companies we work with may place cookies on your computer or other device. These technologies help us better understand user behaviour, and inform us about which parts of our websites people have visited.
We use first party and third party cookies to recognize you as a ABH customer, customize our content, and advertising, to measure promotional effectiveness, and to collect information about your computer or other access device to mitigate risk, help prevent fraud, and promote trust and safety.
The following are some examples of information that we collect and how we may use it:
· We may collect and store details of how you use the Site. Except in limited instances to ensure quality of our services over the Internet, such information will not be associated with your IP address.
· We may collect information such as your language, inferred zip code or area code, unique device identifier, referrer URL, location, and time zone so that we can better understand customer behaviour and improve our services.
What Types of Cookies Do we use?
We may use the following types of cookies on the Site:
Strictly Necessary or Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are also referred to as “strictly necessary” since without them we cannot provide the functionality required to use the Site. For example, essential Cookies may bolster security, or help with load balancing as users navigate through the Site.
Analytic & Performance Cookies
Performance/Analytics Cookies track information about visits to the Site so that we or our Customers can make improvements and report on performance. These Cookies collect information about how visitors use the Site, which site or page the user came from, the number of each user’s visits and how long a user stays on the Site. We may also use Analytics Cookies to test new features to see how users react to them.
During users’ interaction with the Site, Functionality Cookies are used to remember information users have entered. They also store user preferences when personalizing the Site to optimize the use of the Site. These preferences are remembered through the use of the persistent Cookies, and the next time a user engages with the Site they will not have to set them again.
Browsing Activity Cookies
These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.
Social Media Cookies
These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.
